Eight Years Now

Whoa. Eight years, guys. And as of this writing I’m less than twenty away entries from my thousandth post. I gotta sit down…oh, wait. I already am. Cool.

2023 has been really fun. Lots of great blogathons from my fellow bloggers, lots of changes, lots of sameness, including the bad movies that always seem to find me, and I’ve seen more theatrical releases this year than I have in twenty. Seriously. It’s changed the way I look at professional film critics to say the least. For the better, of course. Now when I watch my favorite critics Chris Stuckmann, Jeremy Jahns, or Leonard Maltin, I can come at their thoughts with some of my own knowledge and opinions. That’s kind of a good feeling.

So what’s on the horizon for 2024? Well, some changes will be taking place on the blog over the next year. The “Page To Screen” and “Stage To Screen” series will be ending sometime in 2024, probably around September, because I’ve been doing them since 2017 and it seems to be time. I’m not sure what will replace them yet, but I just haven’t been feeling the last few installments and I’d rather end the series before I’m too burned out to care about anything. All the posts will still be accessible via the series pages, of course.

Another thing is that the blog is badly in need of a redesign. I haven’t changed anything about the look of the site since I started, and that was when it was supposed to be a book blog, so it’s an understatement that the current design doesn’t apply anymore, much as I like it. Again, how this is going to look like is up in the air, but I’ll figure something out. So if you see the blog go offline for a day or two, don’t panic. It just means Taking Up Room is getting a makeover, and everything will be back before you know it.

I want to thank everyone who’s read, liked, commented, made suggestions, and generally graced Taking Up Room with your gracious selves. You all are awesome and it’s always great to hear from you and I hope for more of the same in 2024. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
