Announcing the On the Spot Blogathon

If you could review any movie or TV show for a blogathon, what’s the first title that comes to your mind? Any era, any genre. Don’t overthink it. What would you pick?

That’s what we’ll be doing in the On the Spot Blogathon. If there’s a film or show you’ve been looking to review but didn’t have an excuse, here’s a chance to do just that. Something weird and avant garde? A Christmas movie? Your favorite show? It doesn’t have to be just one title, either. Listicles are just fine, too.

Since this concept is very simple, and that’s a good thing at this time of year, or any time for that matter, we’re going to jump right into…

The Rules

  1. The blogathon will take place from December 13th until the 15th. Posts can be sent to me on or around those days, whether by leaving a comment here on the blog, sending them via Instagram or Twitter/X (both @TakingUpRoom), or via e-mail (rebeccadeniston@gmail.com).
  2. Topics can be whatever comes to mind. Any era and any genre, whether film or TV.
  3. Since this event will be of the impulsive, stream-of-conscience persuasion, there are no limits on duplicates, triplicates, or what-have-you. In fact, it might be interesting to get several points of view on the same title.
  4. The limit is three entries per person. New material only, please. Nothing derogatory will be accepted.
  5. If anyone would like to join, please leave a comment here or use any of the contact info above.
  6. Grab a banner and advertise the blogathon!

  1. I want to write a post comparing Rashomon with its western remake, The Outrage. (Yes, they tried repeating the success of The Magnificent Seven by remaking another Kurosawa film– it didn’t go as well.)

  2. Hi there! I would love to write about Neptune’s Daughter(1949), please! I can rant about the controversial, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” and why the hate for it is ridiculous given the context in this film. Just in time for Christmas! LOL

  3. Hi Rebecca. I hope I’m not too late in signing up? I’m still working on my article on Elizabeth Montgomery and “The Legend of Lizzie Borden” (1975) that I promised you the last 2 blogathons, but sadly severe migraines and hospitalization curtailed my plans. I would love to finish it for this event if its okay? I feel bad about my poor blogathon attendance – so I owe you. I may be able to submit another article as well.
