The Sunshine Is Back (Again)

sunshine-blogger-award

Good day, sunshine! My lovely friend, Gill, of Realweegiemidget Reviews has nominated me for another Sunshine Award…thank you, Gill! I’m starting to lose count of how many times this award has come my way and that’s not a complaint. Sunshine Awards are fun because it’s a nice way for us film bloggers to get to know each other and talk more about what brings us together, which is film.

As always, there are protocols to observe, and one of them is posting…

The Rules
  • Display the award’s official logo somewhere on your blog.
  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Provide a link to your nominator’s blog.
  • Answer your nominator’s questions.
  • Nominate up to 11 bloggers.
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on at least one of their blog posts.

OK, so that takes care of Items One through Three, and now we’re on to Item Four, which is answering Gill’s questions. Without further ado, here they are…

The Questions
  • Who would be your dream interview subject and why? I have several, actually. It would be really cool to get Ridley Scott, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Mel Brooks, and Tom Cruise together James Lipton-style and talk about their experiences, where they see Hollywood going and how it can bounce back from its current state. That would be epic.
  • What’s your favourite blogathon that you have either run or taken part in? That’s easy–the So Bad It’s Good Blogathon is my all-time favorite because it gives us a chance to talk about films we might not otherwise look at and to revel in the ludicrosity that can be Hollywood. Other than that, my favorites are usually whatever’s currently on the blogosphere docket. My fellow bloggers have so many great ideas.
  • You have the choice of a film festival to attend in 2024 in an all-expenses paid trip, which do you choose…? TCM Film Festival, especially if I can take some studio tours while I’m at it.
  • What film-inspired present would you buy for me if you had 50 dollars (or your own currency) to spend…? Only fifty dollars? An autograph from one of the cast members of the original Dallas TV show, although I’m guessing Larry Hagman’s autograph would cost way more than fifty dollars. If I had more than fifty dollars, though, I would say Catherine Zeta-Jones’s dress from the “All That Jazz” number in Chicago.
  • Imagine that you are moving house, which actor or actress would you choose as your next door neighbour? LL Cool J or Mark Wahlberg. They seem like good guys to have around.
  • What’s your favourite film franchise? Back To the Future and Lord of the Rings.
  • Which year is your favourite in film, and support your answer with your top 3 movies from this time… I would say 1944, which is when one of my favorite movies, Since You Went Away was released, plus it’s the year Double Indemnity came out, as well as Going My Way and Murder, My Sweet, a fun but underrated Dick Powell movie.
  • Recommend a film to me that you think would easily fit in my blog. Anything from Irwin Allen that hasn’t already been reviewed.
  • Without saying who the murderer is, which Agatha Christie inspired movie would you change the murderer in… I don’t know if I’d change any of them, to be honest, because the payoff in a Agatha Christie mystery is always awesome.
  • What’s your favourite film related  biopic? That’s a hard one. I tend to go for musical biopics even though a lot of them are suspiciously alike. Love and Mercy is really good, though.
  • Who was the first celebrity who responded to you on social media and who was the last…? Bryan Duncan. He’s a singer I’ve listened to since I was eleven years old and a pioneer in Christian music (hear one of his songs here), and we got to be friends about a dozen years ago, which I still can’t believe.

All right, now onto our nominees, and of course, backsies are a thing. Sooooo…

Eleven nominees, eleven questions. *rubs hands together* Off we go…

  • Winnie the Pooh recently starred in a horror movie. Which public domain character would you like to see taken in a new direction and what would that direction be?
  • You have the chance to work in the film industry. What job would you most like to have?
  • It’s MGM’s one hundredth birthday this month and you’re off to visit their original studio lot. Where do you go first?
  • This is kind of a loaded question, but what are your thoughts on the rise of smaller studios like A24 in the wake of last year’s strikes? Is this a passing thing or should the legacy studios be worried?
  • Which film has been the biggest surprise this year, good or not good?
  • It’s getting harder and harder to find places that sell Blu-rays and DVDs, Amazon being among the last holdouts. Do you think physical media will ever have a real comeback or is it doomed to stay on the fringes?
  • Which film historian would you most like to meet and why?
  • You’re a contract player or a star in Hollywood during World War Two. Are you more interested in selling war bonds, working in the Hollywood Canteen, performing in camp shows and hospital tours, or joining the Armed Forces? Or is it business as usual?
  • What are some of your Do’s and Don’ts for new bloggers?
  • Repertory screenings really seem to be a thing this year. Which film or film franchise do you think must return to the big screen?
  • One of my local theaters is going to exhibit a UFC fight next month. What are your thoughts on movie theaters showing sporting events?

Congrats to all my wonderful nominees, and thanks again, Gill! Another post is coming up tomorrow…

  1. Had to chuckle about your choice of ptessie, I have an autographed copy of Larry Hagman’s autobiography it cost me 50 dollars. And your So Bad It’s Good Blogathon is so good you should hold it twice a year.. on film and one TV version.. I am saying this as found another cracker to review. Thanks for the nomination too. Great answers..
