It’s that time again. So Bad It’s Good time.
Well, it will be in a few months, anyway. Isn’t it amazing that this blogathon is going into its eighth year? I hear from people pretty frequently that this is one of their favorite blogging events, and I hope it stays that way.
For those who might not be familiar with this event, it is what it sounds like: The blogging world looks at the best of the worst of the cinema world. We bloggers normally try our best to find good stuff to review, or at least something unique, but sometimes it can be really cathartic to review a terrible movie. Guilty pleasures and unpopular opinions are on the table as well.
And any era is fair game. Silents, new movies, old movies, anything in between, including schlock. There are tons of possibilities, and some ideas can be found here and here if anyone needs inspiration. Past blogathons can be found here.
All right, without further ado, we have…
The Rules
- The blogathon will take place from February thirteenth until the fifteenth, 2026. Posts can be sent to me on or around those days, and can be sent by either leaving a comment on the blog, my Contact page, Twitter/X and Instagram (both @takinguproom), or by e-mailing me at rebeccadeniston@gmail.com.
- If anyone would like to join, please let me know by one of the avenues above. Podcasters and YouTubers are also welcome to participate.
- Posts are limited to three per person. New material only, please.
- Duplicates are verboten, but a movie can be featured more than once if looked at from different angles such as a listicle.
- Grab a banner and advertise the blogathon!
The Roster
Taking Up Room: Return To the Blue Lagoon (1991), The Monster That Challenged The World (1957) Glamping (2025)
The Midnite Drive-In: Planet of the Apes (2001)
The Flapper Dame: Legal Eagles (1986)
Cinematic Catharsis: The Manitou (1978)
Realweegiemidget Reviews: Mommie Dearest (1981)
Tales From the Freak Boy Show: IT! (1967)

Maybe this will 2026 will be my year to fulfill my blogathon commitment… I was going to do Ishtar since you had a button for it. But I got to thinking about it and I think it’s absolutely criminal that Tim Burton’s version of Planet of the Apes gets such a bad rap. Sure it has some flaws, but it’s a pretty good movie. And since Hamlette and I have teamed up for a remake/sequel blogathon earlier in 2026, I’ll still be in a remake mood.

Sure, that’s fine. I can put you down for “Apes” if you want.

OMG I need a reason to write about a truly terrible movie I watched and removed from my collection, Legal Eagles 1986! OMG that was awful, me and my mom HATED it! But some could still find it fun, because its 1980s cheese. (I guess 80s cheese is not for me!)

So excited for the most wonderful time of the year’s return! In 2026, I’m finally going to review Kraven the Hunter and find out if it truly is as “so bad it’s good” as I’ve heard!
