The Betty Grable Blogathon: Wrapup

Happy Fourth of July to all the Americans reading this (and welcome to everyone else as well)! At the exact time this post goes up (9 AM PDST), my son and I will be sitting in on a 9 AM screening of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny at our local mall. I’ve heard it’s going to be a train wreck, but I’m trying to keep an open mind. Heh heh. My thoughts will be up on Substack tomorrow if anyone’s interested.

Anywhoo, back to business…

It’s appropriate that we had this blogathon on this particular stretch of days, not only because July 2nd is the fiftieth anniversary of Betty’s passing from lung cancer, because not only did our Miss Betty so famously inspire patriotism among Americans in and out of the service during the war and afterwards, but she still brings a lot of joy to many people.

Obviously the usual thing in these wrapups is to offer to include any last-but-not least entries so no one’s left out, but you all got your articles in on time. Yay! I want to thank everyone for their enthusiasm and all the great posts, which I’m currently working through. Betty got plenty of love this weekend and you, my friends, made it awesome.

And if anyone’s just joining us, all of the blogathon articles can be found here.

So what’s next in the blogathon docket? Well, as of today for Taking Up Room, our next event is the Everything Is Copy Blogathon in September, when we’ll be celebrating the Ephron family and their contributions to cinema. Nora, Delia, Phoebe, and the rest are our guests of honor. If anyone is interested in signing up, here are the details.

All right, everyone, thanks again for a terrific blogathon, thanks for reading, and I hope to see you all back tomorrow for a new Stage to Screen. Have a good one…
