Announcing the Sixth Broadway Bound Blogathon!

OK, it seems like we just did this, right? Well, yes. Yes, we did. I feel weird announcing our sixth trip to Broadway only six months after our last one, but since those wacky folks at the American Theatre Wing decided to move the Tonys to September in 2020 and then move them back to June in 2022, everything got thrown off. It was either hold the blogathon in September again, which would feel really odd, or wait until June of 2024, which I wasn’t too keen on, either.

Ergo, here we are. Who’s up for this?

For those of you who might be new to Taking Up Room, the Broadway Bound Blogathon is when we talk about movies made about Broadway, movies made from Broadway shows, Broadway shows made from movies, and performers, producers, writers, and other Broadway veterans who also worked in Hollywood. And again, it’s usually held around the time of the Tony Awards. It’s always a lot of fun and everyone has their own approaches to it (See my Blogathons I’ve Hosted page for past treks down the Great White Way.)

The Rules

  1. The blogathon will take place from June 9th until the 11th. Posts can be sent to me on or around those days via the Comment section, my Contact page, Twitter or Instagram (both @TakingUpRoom) or my e-mail (rebeccadeniston@gmail.com).
  2. New material only, please. Nothing derogatory will be accepted.
  3. Participants are limited to three posts apiece.
  4. Since this is such a big topic, duplicates are verboten. However, it’s OK for one person to do a straight review and another to write about the same topic from a different angle.
  5. If anyone would like to participate, please send me your topic and your blog’s name via any of the channels listed above.
  6. Grab a banner and advertise the blogathon!

  1. Sounds wonderful and I’d like to participate! If it hasn’t already been chosen earlier, I would like to write about Animal Crackers, the 1930 film version of the Marx Brothers’ Broadway show.

  14. Hello Rebecca! According to Wikipedia, ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ was adapted into a Broadway musical in 2008. But I’d like to review the 1980 Hallmark Hall of Fame adaptation of ‘A Tale of Two Cities’.

  17. Hey Rebecca. I’ve been completely absent from my blog for a long time – so I really do need to make a return. This is the perfect occasion for me to do so. I’d love to write about Angela Lansbury. She was like the Queen of Broadway and I’m surprised that nobody has ever written about her at all the entire time this blogathon has been running. I have never seen her on Broadway, but I have seen her live on stage and I’ve been privileged enough to meet her twice. She is most definitely a great subject for this event. Thanks in advance.
